Social Media Strategy Workshop
For two years I’ve been perfecting a hands-on social media strategy workshop for higher education to help campus marketers create and execute their social media strategy. It started as a 1-hour conference session, and is now a half-day workshop (modules can be added to fill an entire day). This workshop is tailored for higher education, and is perfect for conferences, campus professional development, or businesses that operate in the higher education space. Past participants have included social media managers for large and small campuses, senior leaders that want to understand how to lead a social media strategy, marketing coordinators for departments or schools/colleges, and small businesses owners.
My social media strategy workshop for higher education covers how to align your strategies and tactics with goals, how to develop a content strategy and editorial process, must-have guidelines and policies, sources of ongoing professional development, and how to measure your effectiveness. There’s built-in time for individual reflection and planning, as well as sharing with and learning from your peers.
In 2017, I added a workbook to the workshop, and every single attendee told me it was the part that will stick with them. By completing the workshop throughout the workshop, you’ll leave with a draft of a social media playbook you can start using immediately.
The workshop can be completed within four hours, but could easily be lengthened to allow more time for discussion and/or to add additional modules like paid advertising, social listening, and engagement best practices.

Feedback From Workshop Participants
I presented this workshop at the 2017 CASE Summer Institute on Marketing and Communications to 20+ marketers from higher education and independent schools. Here’s what they had to say.
“Liz is absolutely amazing. She knows so much about the subject and I honestly can’t imagine having had a better experience. The institute really felt like an institute because of her – above and beyond a conference experience. I’m excited to get back to work with the tools Liz gave me for social media marketing. I’ve been texting my team all week and they are all so jealous that they didn’t come to CASESICM too.”
“I wish this group could have met longer. This was a very engaging session with many takeaways. Liz provided excellent resources and was a fountain of knowledge. Please come back and teach again.”
“Amazingly good session and sessions with Dr. Gross. I cannot praise her enough. Every session provided great research, real world examples, clear explanations, great ideas on how to apply the research to our institutions, effectively facilitated group discussions. I am extremely happy that I took this track. I’m already applying things I learned from Dr. Gross in my office and I have plans to implement more changes based on her work. I’m also reading some of her further-research recommendations. She hit a home-run out of Fenway with this track.”
“Liz was awesome…she really made the conference for me. I appreciated how “in the know” she was and current on recent topics. I also loved that she allowed room for idea / best practices sharing, and was passionate about the topic. Thanks for all of your knowledge Liz!”
“Her sessions were fun to attend. She kept things lively and upbeat and she presented as an expert on the subject. I also really appreciated that she shared a bunch of Podcasts, Blogs and Books for us to read and follow. She’s totally awesome!”
“These sessions were all awesome. I would register to do this all over again.”
Book This Workshop
I’m able to offer approximately five workshops per year, and appreciate advance bookings so I can plan them around my other professional commitments. I will travel anywhere (my passport is ready!), but prefer not to offer this workshop virtually because of the amount of attendee interaction. Email me (liz at lizgross dot net) to discuss the appropriate workshop structure for your group and corresponding fee.
